Art of Improvisation 2025

The Art of Improvisation workshop will once again be held at Hamilton College – July 27th – August 1st.

Hamilton College Information

• Map of Hamilton College The workshop locations, dorms and dining hall are within 15 minutes walking distance. You can also drive between the dorm parking lots and parking lots nearer the workshop/dining hall location.
  NOTE: The map outlines the best walking path from the dorms to the McEwen-Schambach-Wellin-List complex. Due to construction, the Martin’s Way pedestrian bridge and the adjacent pathway from the residence halls to music classrooms will not be accessible. Pedestrians should detour via Green Apple Way, which is now fully ADA compliant.
• The nearest airport is in Syracuse, New York. The nearest Amtrak/Bus station is in Utica, a 20 minute drive to the campus.
• Fitness Center and Pool: People with a dorm card can access the athletic facilities when they are open.

Dining

We are dining at McEwen Dining Hall. Use the Schambach Center for Music and the Performing Arts entrance. List Arts Center classrooms are also accessible from this entrance.

If you did not sign up for meals with your housing, you can purchase meals individually with a credit card.

Housing

If you sign up for housing, two dorms are available: Morris House and Skenandoa House.

Morris House

• Morris House consists mostly of six-person apartments with two singles, two doubles, a kitchen, living room and two bathrooms in each. This residence hall has two study lounges and two social lounges.
• All rooms come with single beds, desk, chair, dresser and closet or wardrobe.
• Linen service includes linen packet: 2 sheets, two towels, wash cloth, pillow, pillow case and blanket.
• Morris House is NOT air-conditioned.
• Upper floors only accessible by stairwell.
• The parking lot is nearby, farther down on Campus Road, behind Ferguson House.

Skenandoa House

• Residence hall has 22 single rooms and 14 double rooms. 
• Building has elevator to access upper floors.
• All rooms come with single beds, desk, chair, dresser and closet or wardrobe.
• Linen service includes linen packet, sheets w/ pillowcase, 2 towels, wash cloth, pillow and blanket.
• Skenandoa rooms have private bathroom, vanity sink and shower stall. 
• The parking lot is located next to the dorm.
• There is a community kitchen for all residents on the 1st level.

Recording Sessions

On Wednesday afternoon, five recording slots will be available using an H2 recorder. The sign-up sheet will be posted on the main bulletin board.

• 45 minute session
• $40 per session (regardless of the number of people)
• Please pay Jan Alba before the session.
• Output is a 4 track WAV file to be delivered via email after the workshop.
