IMPROVISATION FOR ALL AT MOLLOY UNIVERSITY

Wanted: Music lovers. Music teachers. Performers. Arts therapists. Wellness practitioners.

Whether you are a professional, a student or an amateur, “Improvisation for All” will expand your musical vocabulary. This workshop, running May 6th and 7th, 2023 at Molloy University in Rockville Centre, Long Island, NY, is sponsored by Music for People (MfP), a leader in inclusive, community music-making.

People of all ages and abilities are invited to attend and register for one or both days:

• Saturday’s workshop on Day 1 will examine bold, new approaches to singing, drumming, dancing and instrumental playing.
• Sunday’s workshop on Day 2 will focus on leading social music improvisation and explore tools and techniques for educators, performers and therapists. There will be a Facilitation Fest on Sunday afternoon where you can invite friends and family members to come and participate.

No instrument? No problem. And you don’t have to know how to improvise. All you need is your voice—and the desire to express yourself. We’ll do the rest.

Multi-instrumentalist Mary Knysh will lead you in a weekend of creative exploration, musical mindfulness, personal renewal and community building that encompasses a range of traditions and styles—from folk, blues and jazz to classical and world music. To help lead the workshop, Mary will be joined by Dr. David Rudge and graduates from Music for People’s Musicianship and Leadership Program (MLP).

Admission is $198 for the weekend or $99 for one day, on or before Sunday, April 16th, 2023. Starting Monday, April 17th, it’s $150 for a single day or $300 for the weekend.

Educator Discount: For this workshop, music teachers and college students can attend for $75/day or $150 for the weekend.

To MLP Participants: For this MLP training event, you must attend both days to receive credit for MLP training hours.
