Emily Metcalf passed away March 31st, surrounded by a loving community of music and meditation.  Emily was a cellist with the Hartford Symphony, a Music Together instructor, a teacher of cello and improvisation, a founding member of Music For People’s Musicianship Program, a recording artist, and a kind soul with an enormous heart.  She is survived by her husband James Oshinsky, their daughters Breanna and Kira, stepson Josh, sister Janet and nephew Justin.  While cancer shortened her time with us, her influence is widely felt by all who were touched by her gentle presence and her joyful music.  There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life on April 12 th at 12 noon at the Ethical Humanist Society, 38 Old Country Road, Garden City, NY.  Contributions towards a scholarship fund will be accepted at MusicforPeople.org (1 877 44 MUSIC) and at the Metcalf-Oshinsky home mailing address, 2408 Soper Ave, Baldwin, NY 11510.
